I just picked up a used 2012 F250 XCA to repower my 2300 Center Concole. It is one of the engines that uses DEC controls and only has about 375 hours on it. So, I bought a brand new Yamaha 6YC DEC installation kit that came with the new binnacle, the main harness, ignition switch, single "all in one" gauge and half a dozen pig tails and accessories. I've rigged several engines in the past without too much difficulty, and I don't think this one will be any different. HOWEVER, I just learned that my new 6YC dash gauge will have to be "programmed" to match up with the used engine using some kind of Yamaha system diagnostic software that plugs into the engine, or things will not work correctly if at all......This is very unfamiliar territory for me. The Yamaha rigging kit came without any instructions whatsoever  .....
I am going to do the wiring portion of this next weekend, but pretty much expected to be able to fire the engine up after this process was complete---just like the old manual control engines. Looks like there is more to it. I would GREATLY appreciate anyone who has experience with rigging a used DEC engine with new DEC controls to chime in on what exactly it is I need to do electronically in order to get the motor and combination gauge to work----once I have all of the wiring complete, of course. Many thanks in advance.....
