I primarily fish the Delaware Bay and surrounding waters. For those that are familiar with this off shore trip, leaving out of Indian River or Ocean City, Is the 23SE enough boat?

I'm not familiar with the area but I bring my 23SE 25-30 miles offshore of Cape Cod. Of course, a combination of common sense and the right weather conditions are vital for me to even consider it. In the end you have to remember it's only fishing and boating. Nothing worth taking any risks over.

i fish out of indian river, and to answer your question, it really depends on where youre going. personally, i would not take a 23 CC to the canyons, although there are plenty of guys that do. however, i would not think twice of heading to the lumps, Masseys, jackspot, triple wrecks, etc if i had good weather and a good crew. really the only reason i wouldnt go to the canyons is ive never run a 23. if youre confident in your boat and abilities, and have the essential safety items (FLIR and/or Radar, EPIRB, liferaft, SeaTow or BoatUS) i would go for it. a tip for Indian river inlet, though, if youve never run through it before: it can get nasty. you see alot of guys try to go screaming out and get the pi$$ beat out of themselves before their trip even starts. take it slow, idle up and over, and take your shots where you can. coming in, ride the following edge of a wave in until it hits the standing wave, then punch it up and over. you get the hang of it quick.
