Well after reading numerous posts on rebuilding both the helm unit and the piston on the motor side I am planning on giving it a try next week. I will be relying heavily on Topshot25's post at viewtopic.php?f=11&t=9933&p=69727&hilit=Seastar+helm+rebuild#p69727

I could not find a similar post on rebuilding the piston on the motor side so I will try to take some photos as I do it. If anyone has seen a post like that please let me know.

I've had a clicking in the helm steering and noted that recently when I park the boat with the motor sitting straight up when I return it has lost pressure and is turned towards one side or the other. I understand this is a symptom of a leaking O ring on the piston. I do not see any oil in either area though.

Now I know why no one has posted detailed instructions on rebuilding the piston. It is very easy and great instructions come with the rebuild kit. I did both The piston and helm units this past weekend with no issues.
