I noticed a small , maybe 2 drops worth of pink stain below the cyclinder by the motors that says Seastar on it, it has been hot during the day for the last few days, the steering works perfect in my driveway and all the fluids I can check are fine, it came out of where the chrome bar goes into that cyclinder that makes both motors turn on the back of the boat, should I be worried or not, I hope not can not afford anymore surprise broken stuff at the moment :) We are heading out on Thursday for 4 days and do not want a steering problem, any sugestions, this is the first time this has happened, I just noticed the stain on the white motor bracket, when I turn the motors back and forth, nothing leaks out !
Thanks,
C

Thanks, I will polish and spray with WD40, have a great afternoon :)

... polish it out w/some fine steel wool

Steel wool has NO PLACE on a boat IMHO. It will leave steel slivers that will corrode all over the deck. Best best for marine use is 3M Scotchpads or bronze wool (which is softer, but still needs to be 'flushed/rinsed' where used).

Hi Dale, I agree with you, I have no steel wool, only very soft towels, but I did polish and check and it has not leaked anymore, will check while we are out on the ocean, it will be easy to tell as it will drip on the white Armstrong motor bracket !
On a separate note,
I will be trying out 4 blade props I got, they look sweet, hopefully they work great, will post pics and let all know how they worked !

My ram leaks a bit, and after a couple years of leaking, I guess I should remove it and replace the seals. I'll get through one more CBBT winter season, and do it this winter.

I've discovered that if you have a slight leak, you can occassionally top off the fluid level at the helm and keep going.

I had the same problem with my sea star steering on the engine. The leak got worse and I nonticed some corrision on the stainless steel piston. I took pictures of the unit showing the corrosion and e-mailed them to sea star and they sent me a new unit free of charge. Good Luck
