So I started last night on putting in the new seat i got which required the door to be removed. Started by removing all the screws around the door frame. I removed the trim pieces and then removed the screws that held the door jam in (a lot easier to find with no carpet). After removing all the screws i cut around the outside of the frame to remove the sealant. Everything went pretty easy, and I got the new seat inside, now just have to bolt it down. Any recommendations on what hardware to use to fasten the seat base to the floor????

Also discovered a date written in pencil when i removed the other companion seat under the round base, it said 3/99 , i had a picture of that to but recently switched phones so i will take another picture of that later.

Before you buy, let me tell you I only use my side "plano plastic" boxes that go flush into my console for terminal gear (3ways swivels, etc) and smaller lures such as cast masters or shad darts....those flimsy plastic boxes are simply not meant for larger striper/bluefish gear. Perhaps some fluke rigs. (So I am not being a downer, you will get your use outa em)

I just searched, but cant find it. Someone on here designed some awesome starboard drawers. Those are perfect!

i do hear ya on your point, and thats all i really expect to use them for, I will still have plenty of room inside the seat for storage for other things, this is really the best insert that i have found, that space is to valuable to not have something there, and with basically no storage at all inside the PH this will at least help with some of that.

i believe this may be what you are referring to???

Yeah those would be them!

I love fishing on boats with those... Can label and actually fit real fishing equiptment in them.

Too often in my tackle bag(s) and drawers can I not fit what I need to.

Just FYI, Parker used 4x #10 12" SS screws with trim washers... thats it. I was surprised when I removed the seatbase, but if its good enough for Parker, it should work fine for you. The seat is so large, and the base so wide, I'd imagine that the same thing will hold it just fine. If you wanted to get all fancy-pants, you could drill larger holes, and embed a nut in the floor with epoxy. Then you could bolt it in.

Eli thanks at least i know whAt came out of it now. Like you said the base is so big there isnt going to be a lot of stress on the base i may use some the existing holes from the old base as well.

Phil i hear ya on the drawers. But i was trying to keep it cost affective the drawers fin addict makes are close to 400$ with the price of gas id like to use that 400 to put in the fuel tank  but i still havent made a final decision on what im putting there yet

In a word ... use "Togglers", that are heavy-duty stainless steel 'toggle bolts' made for the marine environment. They are SS toggle bolts for marine applications and once set, the hardware/bolt can be removed or replaced without losing the toggler into the dark recesses of the hull.

fastenmsc_2120_8236721

BEST price is on-line from MSC Fasteners, < $3 each, as boat stores gets $5-$6 each, see: http://fastenmsc.stores.yahoo.net/togglebolt.html

Another benefit, if you do really well with your install, you can affix the toggle permanently into the floor so the item could be removed and refastened, if ever needed, without the toggle dropping down into the recesses of the hull ...

Some tackle drawers on the side of that seat would be awesome.

That was my thought as soon as I saw the seat. :)
Would love to do the same in my boat... replace the pedestals with those style bases then add Plano box storage.
Since I don't have the bulkhead on my boat, my Plano storage could face the rear, accessible to the cockpit.

Edit: Miky, are those the jump seats out of an XL, or something else?

Dale thanks for the recommendation those do make sense

Kevin yes the seat is out of a 2520

I will be doing some more research on drawers to make you guys happy

Sparky(Eli) on this site was nice enough to trade me that seat for my companion pedestal seat which is greatly appreciated!!! I wouldn't want one on the helm side i like my captains chair there however i would like to make a box and mount the captains chair to the box for added storage on the helm side, that will probably be next years project.

so this is what you guys think i should get instead of the plano storage?????? I feel lie the drawers would be nice for general storage keys, wallet sunscreen tools etc, but wont provide any organization for tackle

No! The drawers are perfect for tackle.... They fit things you ACTUALLY use when fishing besides swivels, rubber bands, and a shad dart.

You make a great point with the sunscreen/rando stuff.... A spot to put those items (i.e. 1 of the drawers is perfect).

Drawers also allow for storage for rigs that are still new in the package. Far too often to I find myself with brand new packaged rigs floating around everywhere.

I agree Kevin, i want to be able to stock swivels hooks etc.......... Then find a different option for drawers down the road
