I have two seat back brackets to install on my 2520's transom on the inside above the two small corner seats. I know others drill an oversize hole, fill it with epoxy, re-drill and install the hardware. I am using #10 X1" screws to hold the brackets and want to know if the west system six10 will do the job. If not, what is the proper way to wet out and use thickened epoxy for this type of work. I have never done any type of epoxy or fiberglass work / repairs.

Thanks Jay

Yes...It will work....I've used it before, but it is a VERY expensive way to get epoxy. That Big 'Ol tube has about 6oz in it.

I see you're in MA. Be advised that temperature affects the cure time for epoxies and other resins. Cold will take longer so your epoxy may run before it cures. Use masking tape around the holes just to be safe. you can even put a piece right over the holes to capture the epoxy until it sets up.

Thanks Guys and I do have plenty of time, I can cover the holes with tape for months if need be but I will wait for a couple decent days if we get them and if not wait till spring. Always plenty to do. I have read on a few posts about wetting out the edges then using thickened epoxy to fill the holes and was looking for a little instruction but the six10 seems like it will work.

The best deal I've found in epoxies is the 'Sample Kit' from Raka epoxy, only $18 and $ for shipping.

It comes with 12-ounces of their standard marine epoxy Resin 127 with fast 610 and slow 606 hardeners, a small sample of silica & micro-bubbles (fillers) and a sample of their standard 6 oz. fiberglass.

Delivery to business addresses is ALWAYS cheaper whenever shipping anything ...

the six 10 is alittle pricey but it is great to work with just buy a extra bag of mix tips you can recap it and it lasts a long time
