Read a lot here about how the F225 is "over rated" and actually makes less than 225, while the F250 is rated correctly or even under rated and makes 250hp or more.

I was reading and found this test between the honda 225 and yamaha 225, both production engines were dyno tested and both made 225hp (224 actually) at the prop as advertised....

Does anyone have evidence supporting the claim that the F225 does not actually make 225hp?

EPA testing reports:

Yamaha F225 155.37KW @5500rpm= 208HP


My Opti powered 25 maycraft is nearly 4mph faster than a local guy to me's 25 maycraft with a 2001 F225. Of course he uses his boat commercially and it probably has a bucnh of hours on it and hasnt had valve adjustments etc.
