Sunday the 10th Hunter Southall and I headed to the protected waters of the Elizabeth river here in south eastern VA. The wind was to much to fish in the ocean or bay so we hit the river for some speckled trout. We were set up by sunrise and I had a bite after just two minutes there. Fish on and lost right away. Then we caught 3 by 8:30 and it stopped until after the current started to move again. At 10:30 the bite started and was pretty good until we left at 2:30. We ended up catching 20 fish that we tagged and released all but one. We had caught several release citations and then I had one on that was fighting much harder and taking a lot of line. I told Hunter this is one we want to see so I had him clear some lines instead of working around them. This was the one we kept to weigh, it was 8 pound 12 ounces 29.25 inches. We had 4 other release citation 24.25 to 25.5 inches. The other 15 fish were 19-23 inches.
