I have a 2005 2520XL. Was out camping over night and went to turn on the Spreader Light which failed to light up. Took it apart and brought it home for repair/replacement. The attached photos show the corrosion that I found on the mounting place for the bulb which is the negative connection for the 12 volts. Needless to say the corrosion caused the problem,i.e. connectivity. I can't believe that Parker would have put on its boats something that corrodes so quickly. Does anyone know a source for these lights?
Thanks

If you had a problem with that light, you might want to try another brand.
I put an LED spreader light on my boat, and I've been very happy with it.

No offense but that light lasted 4 years in saltwater (assumption). Lights are always a pain on a boat. Metal parts and electric. I mounted my lights under the lip of the back of the pilothouse. Its only been a year but so far so good. They are on a bolt so i can swivel them wherever i want.

Hey Capt Kevin: Did you do a post on installation of the led spreader light? If so, can you give me where I can find the post.

Thanks

My unit is also a plastic housing. I wasn't aware that there was a corrosion problem until the unit would not come on. When I took the unit apart I found that it was not a sealed beam and the corroded plate is mounted inside the plastic housing.
