This week while boating on lake Ontario I came across pretty unusual (to me) issue. Being on the plane in 1801 (painted bottom, 3/4 tank of gas) with 2003 F115 I was making about 28mph with 4200prm, I experienced sudden drop in speed to about 20mph with rpm rising to 4600 and the motor changing noise to somewhat bubbly/gurgling. I came off plane and sound become normal again. In repeated few more times while I was getting home over span of 1/2 hour. I had to go home to NYC and kept on thinking of the cause. It felt like slipping clutch on the car. Do I have a spun prop or you think it is more serious problem. Another question is about the prop size. What is the average size for this engine and 1801? I do not want to have me stranded without a prop and I stupidly did not check my size before leaving the Big O.

Thank you guys. I will let you know if it something else.

It is an issue of trimming the o/b right. It looks like if prop picks up some air it does it. I still cannot comprehend how come it can not purge it running at 25mph.
