As mentioned several times already (I apolgize) - I just purchased a 1991 Parker 2110 Walk Around that we are putting back to tip-top shape. Currently working on the trailer and some basic boat stuff before sending it off to have the hull painted and have a custom tower/hard top installed. Hopefully within the month, it will be pretty as its ever been.

I no little/nothing about cleaning a boat. I can detail a car like noone's business (and would be willing to trade someone the chore if interested) but have never fooled with taking care of a boat.

Going to be hitting West Marine this week and on my list will be picking up the needed cleaning products. What should I throw in my basket?

If this were a car, I would say the fiberglass above the water line (bottom is being repainted) would need a strong polish/cleaner applied via machine. It would then need a good/strong wax to bring out luster/shine.

Is this true of a boat? Same process?

What about the open area of the boat - console area, deck, etc? Anyone know of something to remove the white spots (almost looks like salt spray) from the cuddy windows and the railing?

When this boat finally hits the water, I want it looking as good as it did when new.

What products should I throw in my basket while shopping?

Thanks in advance.

And forgive me as I know how the search button works but I am not familiar enough with the products being mentioned to know what is right for my application.

Again, if this were a car forum, I could talk shop with the best of them but I am quite green with all this stuff.

I cleaned and waxed our Parker after Xmas in SW FL and used Meguair's cleaner and wax applied by hand and a Harbor Freight orbital polisher ($25 on sale) after a good washing with WM boat soap which ran out so swithced to Simple Green. I plan on using Colinite cleaner/wax but Gander Mtn had a big sale on Meguair's

enter search by wax

A boatload  of good information and experience

The Admiral helped, too and later, I waxed the Suburban alone by hand

I used microfiber fleece wash mitt, wax applicators and towels except for the polisher, used wool bonnets

The boat finish was shiny but didnt pop like Suburban b/c used NuFinish
I just went over both once. I thought about adding a coat of wax but the boat looked great and we wanted to launch at high tide

Have Fun
