Winter storage.
Topic of full / empty tank comes up all the time.
Was thinking the only way water must be able to get in the tank is thru the vent.
Why not just put a bigger balloon over the vent? (ie; Parker Condom?)
Be like inhaling & exhaling the same air without added humidity.

Just a dumb thought maybe,,,, but why not?

I actually did it the first year I owned the boat. I put a large balloon over the unscrewed vent pipe. It works but the balloon will tear after a day or two. Now as I think about the idea, if I were to design a commercially viable product I might make something like an expansion tank similar to water expansion tanks above a heater furnace. The diaphragm material would be rated for gasoline and diesel, it would have a long flexible hose that can be screwed to the vent . This way you can mount the tank above the boat for safety. You can use this Gas Expansion Tank for boat storage or when the boat is on the water (where it is most susceptible to condensation.)

I also recall some one coming out with a commercial product that uses a canister of descendents that is screwed onto the fuel vent. The descendents supposedly absorbs the moisture from the air.
