I need to replace the steering rack and cable and didn't know if anyone knows how long the cable should be on a 21' DV the privious owner put an 18'cable but I wanna be sure it is correct before I spend the money.

With a 21' CC w/ decent power I'd opt for hydraulics. Check the UFlex systems or Seastar Systems.

If staying w/ cable, call Parker with your HIN and they should be able to tell you the exact length cable to buy.

I wanna start buy saying this site rocks for anyone who owns a parker and Thanks for the insight it's much appreciated. I would do a sea star upgrade if I had enough money to do everything I wanted but this winter I'm installing a chart plotter (hds12 touch with structure scan and a sonic hub) so the funds just aren't their for both. I'm having an issue with my steering rack jumping a tooth when turning hard so I'm gonna replace the cable and rack this year with plans to upgrade next year. I'm gonna take your advice and call parker. Are they pretty helpful?

Just put in this last summer a hds 12
With structure scan and a sonar hub with the new thru hole chirp b150. Great unit

Absolutely.
Have your HIN in hand when you call so they can look up the as-built records of your boat of what it had when it was manufactured.
