Bill from starbrite was kind enough to send me a couple of complimentary bottles of Startron. i tried it out today in my 2320/f250.

i currently run 89 octane gas without ethanol dosed with the recommended amount of Ringfree. i have not had any fuel or performance issues. the reason i tried the Startron was because one of their claims is better fuel economy.

i have pretty well documented my mpg at various speeds. today i made several runs prior to adding Startron and noted the mpg. then i added the Startron while on the water and made several runs in the same area allowing the Startron to mix well with the gas. my results were.........................

....................i did not notice any measurable improvement in fuel economy. i am sure it does many other things, but for me there was no difference in mpg :?

I don't believe they claim to increase MPG, but if they do, that sure is foolish (or fuelish ;) ) in my opinion. Remember ... normally aspirated motors run on FUEL ... not ADDITIVES  !

I will ADD though, in States where ethanol or E10 or even E10++ fuel is sold ... Star*Tron does seem to ward off ill effects from fuel 'issues'.

You know ... I should have added. That "if/when" the fuel delivery system (carb'd or tbi or injection or O2 sensors) components are clogged up with carbon and other combustion by-products ... I can see and have seen where performance and efficiency suffered.

I'd say you didn't see any measurable difference as your boat is tuned and running as it should be. That's a good thing!

Did you also read my other post about buying the diesel formula (same price) but only using 1/2 as much ... thereby getting twice the product for the $$ spent. Fact is ... the diesel formulation is TWICE the concentration of the gas formula. True! We have it in writing from Star*Brite company.

i did read that, and you are right. i even have an email from starbrite confirming.

what i learned from the test was that if you are not having any fuel related issues and have a healthy engine, then don't expect any improvement in fuel economy. they kind of got me with the print that says the enzymes cause the fuel to burn more completely and thus increases fuel economy. 8)

Three years ago when I had to have my O2 sensor replaced, I switched to Penzoil full synthetic oil and started adding StarTron and Ringfree at the 1 ounce per 10 gallons rate.

The motor burns clean with almost no smoke, and has had zero issues since the switch. In fact, she has never run better than she does right now.

Did the use of StarTron have anything to do with how she runs now?
Beats me, but I'm not complaining.
