Happy Easter everyone.
From a previous post there were rumors that the Parker factory was closed. I was there for a tour this past Tuesday and I can say that boats are defiantly being built. They may not be selling them and they may not be going out to dealers but they are being built. Our tour guide, Joe, said that the Parker family is keeping all of their men busy by building boats and storing them out back. They do not want to let their good people go with the idea that when times get good again they will need people to build boats. I am certain that some low men on the pole had to go but their top men and women are working. There were several boats on the line from CC to PH one WA. We saw #9, #10, and #11 of the 34'. What a monster of a boat. We toured a 34'. They have sold one.
So the factory is amazing. Neat, clean, organized, odder free for the amount of glass and chemicals be sprayed. A very impressive organization. I guess when you say factory you think machinery and robots but these boats are made by hand. If you ever get down that way I highly recomend the tour. BTW tours are on Friday's only but I got an exception as I was heading back to PA on Friday morning.
So there are the facts as of last week. 8)
