i received an email this morning from Larry. he asked me to relay to you that while doing some maintenance on his boat Friday, he found himself unable to breath. he suffered a severe blood clot in one of his legs which broke up and subsequently caused a pulmonary embolism. he was admitted to St Pete General in critical condition where he immediately underwent surgery. he was in surgery throughout the night and this morning.

he says he has been upgraded to stable following surgery. there are still multiple blood clots in his circulatory system that cannot be reached through surgical intervention. he is still not out of the woods yet.

anyway......Larry has access to his laptop but absolutely no energy to do anything.

if i find out more, i will pass it along. his email address is [email protected]

a little scary..........he never saw it coming. IF we had been offshore 40+ miles fishing, i dare say it would have been an EPIRB moment.

It is a lot scary! It sounds as if he was very lucky. I would have thought Larry would have been too young to have something like that happen to him. I hope the are able to dissolve the other clots before the cause more problems.

Larry I hope all goes well for you. I went thru almost the same thing just a few weeks ago. I had what felt like a pulled muscle in my left calf for a week, it would get tight then loose and just a little pain. I was also getting very short of breath doing very simple things. My wife made me go to the doctor one night as she was worried about it. This doctor missed it all togather but wanted me to go for an ultra sound of my leg the next morning. When my wife called to get the referal my doctor said they wanted to see me right away, with in a few minute it was off the the emergency room .They did a chest CT and found it right away a PE and they started me on Heprin, after a few fun filled days in the hospital I went home an had to give myself shots for 6 days and had to go on Warafin for atleast a yr,maybe forever. Its been 3 weeks now and I'm starting to feel alot better , still get tierd easy but everyday is a little better.
I hope this finds you well and in good spirits. Its a good thing they caught it when they did. Do as the doctors say and you will be out in no time and back to life.

Larry is 51 same as me and in apparent good physical condition on the outside. IF you smoke.......quit.......rant over.

Good Luck, Larry!!
Brenda and I wish you the very best and a speedy recovery. Listen to the docs and be careful with the nurses
Good fishing in advance of your next trip!

I was 38 when I had mine . That was just a few weeks ago. I dont smoke hardly ever drink and am only a little over weight. You just never know. My leg just felt like a pulled muscle in the calf, then parts of it broke off and went to my lungs. Its the younger clots that brake up and move.

Holy smoke!

Larry... get well soon brother.
Your family here at CP are all pulling for you to come back stronger than ever.

Larry

Your in our thoughts and our prayers. God Speed Brother! Bless you and your family!
