I recently purchased a 1990 parker 25 cc that needs some cosmetics. Instead of re-doing the gel coat, I'm thinking of going with one of the modern top-side paints (white) for above the waterline, and need to be able to roll or brush on. I plan on keeping the boat in brackish/saltwater 6-8 months per year on the Pamlico Sound. what is/are the best product for ease of application, durability, toughness, ease of maintenance and touch up? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Currently at Pamlico Boat and Fiberglass Repair in Washington, getting the bottom done and some structural alterations. I'm considering doing the paint myself.

They do good work there. It is going to be hard to paint and get a good finish without spraying it. Did PBFR give you a price to do all of it?

Haven't really discussed that yet, but the pricetag of a complete re-do on the gelcoat is not in my budget. So the question is whether I'll have them paint it or do it myself. Some of the companies like Supermarine, Interlux, and Alexseal claim they have products that you can brush or roll on that are self flattening.

For a few hundred bucks you can get a decent paint sprayer set up and do a really good job - brushing aor rolling is, IMO, a compromise. I would invest a bit more in doing it right.
