New to the site with a question about FIL's 23 DV CC.

He has a Garmin transom mount transducer that pops up on occasion. With the stainless bracket, it is impossible to re-seat the transducer without going for a swim, fine in the summer, now not so much. I would like install something in the hull to avoid this. The boat has a shelf in the bilge holding the oil reservoir. Has anyone mounted a transducer thru hull between this shelf and the transom with success? I saw one post where someone had cut away the shelf, however, I didn't see that they had the oil tank to deal with. Can the transducer be mounted on the centerline? Seems like I remember there being a flat pad on the centerline of the hull.

Airmar tilted element transducer should fit, search it and you'll find more than one post.

BOE Marine has a great how-to video on their site and great prices and service. 8)
