Does anyone happen to know the thickness of the transom on the 2320 DV? I'm running 20 miles in one direction to get stainless hardware for through-bolting it, and don't want to go the 5 miles in the opposite direction to measure... :)

Thanks everyone.

Next question is whether to use 5200 or 4200 between the mounting pads and the transom... At some point in the next couple of years I'll probably be stripping the boat down for repainting... The mounts are not below the waterline, btw.

Don't use 5200 unless you never want to take it apart.
5200 contains a powerful adhesive that will make it nearly impossible to remove later.

Thickness turned out to be more like 2-7/8" Man, that sucker is THICK. :D

Project went nicely and now we have a cool new swim step so that my chubby friends can now dive with me and not have to porpoise their way up onto the engine bracket.

Bah, horse pockie ... 3M 5200 comes off in seconds using Anti-bond 2015 and a wire saw made from a thin guitar string wrapped around 2 wooden handles.

I dunnoh, believe me, 5200 is not the most magical do-all be-all bonding stickum solvent ever created IMHO. Good? Yes, very good? Permanent? No freaking way! Just try it for yourself and you'll see how easy it is, with proper tools and preparation, to take things apart that were bedded with it.
