Hey guys

I am in the market for a new boat in the coming months, and have narrowed the list down to a 1801 or a 2100SE. As most of my fishing will be done inshore in shallow water (with occasional offshore trips on calmer days), a trolling motor is going to be an essential part of my fishing. With that being said, I was hoping to find some people who have 1801s or 2100SE's with trolling motors or trolling tabs who could share some advice/insight on their rigs. For either boat, I would like to install the trolling motor in line with the curvature of the bow or parallel/inline with the boat. As one of my requirements will be the forward raised fishing platform, I will want room to go up there and fish and throw the cast net without having to worry about the trolling motor getting in the way when it is stored. Any advice on the install, the lb. thrust needed (or chosen), battery setup/placement would be very appreciated. Any feedback would be helpful!

CC,
This morning I posted pictures a few pictures of my trolling motor set-up on LLT’s thread about putting a trolling motor on a 23SE. (It was just below this thread). Mine is a 21SE with a 36V 101 lb thrust Rip Tide. I am very happy with the setup. I still have plenty of room on the bow to fish or throw a cast net. Since the motor is off center, steering takes a little to get used to. The batteries are in the center console, with the battery charger. If you have any specific questions or need more pictures please let me know. If you are in the Beaufort NC area, you are welcome to come take a look at the set-up.

I live in New Bern, so I would definitely love to take you up on the offer. I will have to let you know what weekend works for me. I think finding a 1801 or 2100se with a casting platform up front would alleviate my concerns about the motor hindering my cast netting.

Did you consider a 2100 before you got your 2300? I am thinking the 2300 is going to get a bit too big for the inshore/nearshore fishing I will be doing. How much water does it realistically draw?
