I was over at the Judge factory today and saw an unusual boat being built and thought I would share. It isnt much of a fishing boat but more of Chesapeake Bay cruiser.

Check this thing out... It is a full custom topside on a 36 Chesapeake mold. Also check out the thruster on the transom. I think she is either getting a cummins 425 or 480 Q-series in her.

Cool looking..Still would make a good fishing boat. Looks like allot of forward weight for that amount of freeboard. Like to see the finished product if you get more pictures..

I like it too.

She would make a cool coastal cruiser, but I agree... it looks like she could be fished pretty easilly too. Maybe not a hard core sportie, but certainly well enough for my kind of fishing. :)

Would love to see more photos as she is fitted out.

While Judge is a build to order company, the vast majority of their orders tend to stick with their main model layouts with just some individual customer tweaks to make the boats their own. This is one of the more rare orders where a customer comes to them with a completely different boat layout in mind. Bill says these type of orders tend to take longer and cost more but in the end the customers love their boats because it was completely made to what they desire... The cockpit is a fair size from what I saw and it could be a decent fishing boat. However the extended top covers much of the cockpit. If it were my boat, I would want that roof shortened. I will try to get more photos as she progresses.

It would sure cost a lot to replace tip-top guides if you fished out of it much....maybe a dive boat.

Here is a shot of the regular layout of the Hull on the water (Bill Judge himself was trolling along side of me this past spring in his demo boat)..

The boat is engineered to sit level and will do well. Judge also uses all composite materials (nidacore and divinycell) to core their boats so they are lighter than their wood cored counter parts. Also the cabin looks a little more forward than it is in the photo as I took it from behind the boat. I will try to get shots of the boats as she progresses. :)

Uncle Matt, someone always has money.. Just not us regular Joe's (Gregs or Matts too)

That's the first "Judge" that really interests me. Love to see a lot more photos and spec's. Looks like the main cabin might almost be livable...

I think it is a boat that could be livable. I will try to get a list of what is being built into the boat.

If you like the custom cruiser-type finish, Judge has done some other boats too. Probably more so on the 32 hull but there have been other molds too. I personally like the fish-boat layouts

(there is a cool one on the Severn River up from Annapolis that I will try to get a shot of at some point this summer)

Here is what I think is his old 28' mold he had done.. (not sure he has that mold anymore due to a fire in the plant he had - boat was called the Phoenix due to being constructed at the time of the fire - It rose up from the ashes)

OK, i spoke with Bill today and asked him what is going into the boat. he said it will have a full queen size berth in the bow, a seperate head and seperate enclosed shower. She will also have a full galley and salon. I will try to get some shots of her later when she is further along in production. I dont get to the plant that much as they are like 45-50min away from me

I think I might have been right for once.
She sounds like a coastal cruiser.

With thrusters front and rear she can be stuffed into almost any dock space, and with those amenities (and a single diesel), she can run the ICW or the coast fairly economically.

I like it.

It is the only shot I got of the Coastal Cruiser the other day as my camera phone had is memory full but there was a TON done on the interior and the windows, supports, etc were all in. The boat will be going to paint room soon for a "flag blue" AlexSeal Yacht finish. I will try to get some more shots of her soon....

Not sure this is going after the fishing crowd. probably will have more drink holders than rod holders

The boat has been splashed, sea trialed and delivered to the new owner (even though she will be in the Annapolis Powerboat show). She cruises around 28knots burning 18-19gph. The cockpit is larger than I thought and she does have a few rod holders  Here are the shots.
