1999 Yam Saltwater Series 250s...
After 700+ hours, I started having a problem where the oil tank on the side of the engine was not filling and the alarm was sounding.
I figured out it's a filter in the tank in the bilge (and not the pump, and not the float switches inside the tank).
I disconnected the oil line from the tank on the enginge, then I connected a bicycle pump with one of those "tapered blow" fittings (not the needle fitting) into the hose. I opened the tank cap (in the bilge) to allow pressure relief.

I hand pumped it a few dozen times. could hear the air/oil burping with the bilge door open. THe first few pumps were pretty hard where by it had to free up what ever was blocking the filter.

I'm sure I'll need to do it again as the oil settles, but this buys some time especially during summer when I'd have to tear the floor up to replace the bilge tank.

Same thing happened to my Yamaha 150. Took apart the hose in oil tank to find a small piece of the foil that covers the top of gallon oil jug blocking the filter. Paid maybe $1.50 for new filter and no problems since! My tank was not in bilge thank goodness
