I had this problem for years and could not isolate the problem, all connections were clean. I had a dual batt set up from the factory with the Perko 1, 2, All, Off switch. In the off season I had a Blue Seas "Add a Battery" system installed along with an ACR, problem solved. Now I can turn on all electronics along with all of the lights, start the boat and no more voltage drop. It was getting to be a real PITA waiting for my chart plotter to acquire a position 15-20 times a day..

Did you add a third battery or just replace the factory setup? I get the DSM lost from my raymarine unit when I restart sometimes.

No, I did not have to add a third battery. Basically just a new switch, cost me $158 plus one hour of labor. The new switch is just "on" and "off" along with an emergency "combine". It was explained to me that what this switch does is just isolate one batt for the engine only, with everything else running off the second batt (but the engine charges both simultaneously). Practically no re-wiring of the existing set-up, looked like a pretty simple install to me.

I installed a third battery in the cabin to hook all my electronics to and eliminated the problem.

Easy install and now have no worries about dead or weak batteries if I'm drifting for long periods of time with the electronics on and the engine off.
