faster, more efficient and more reliable...

(Even though some manufacturers line their pockets by deciding what motors you can have with your boat, you can still have your choice when it comes to repowering 8) )

The guys in the Contender are saying to those on the dock...

"Get yer ear-plugs out, boys...I'm gettin ready to fire these mothers up" :p

Actually he is just returning warning those on the dock that the other Contenders will be in shortly as he passed them on the way in. Be sure to have pleanty of vst filters and low pressure fuel pumps ready. Also please get OPEC here as some of the motors are golden as they are said to be able to make oil...

Neither of those Mercs are running: what you don't see is the tow rope attached to the front of the boat. :D

is no reason to bash Merc. BTW, the majority of the reason any boat manufacturer limits to one engine manfucaturer is simply economic. Having a brother in the marine engine business, I have learned of the incentives given to manufacturers and dealers who deal in only one brand of engine.

I'm not bashing Parker's choice in Yamaha but, it simply isn't becuase they decided Yamaha was the best engine and went with that. I own a 2000 yr. model Parker and had no problem then in buying it new and rigged with a brand other than Yamaha. Since, so I have been told, Parker prerigs all their boats with Yamahas.

My previous boat had Mariners, they are Mercs if you didn't know. They were good 2-stroke motors. Other than a stator (sp) voltage regulation problem I found them to be reliable hard charging motors. In fact the only issues I had with those motors where issues shared by all 2-strokes, i.e. They were very load, had crappy fuel economy, smoked on start up, and 2-stroke oil issues.

I now have 4-stroke Yamahas, though I have had them for a much shorter time, so far the only issue I have is with maintanence costs but my wife's boat (fish/ski) with a 4-stroke Merc is also expensive to have serviced.

Oh yea, everyone in the know, knows Fords are crap! JK! Not really!
