Hi all,

I want to buy a nice brush for the boat - and don't know what stiffness?

I'll probably bite the bullet and buy the shurhold (with the extendable rod pole thingy) but don't know what size and whether I should buy the "soft" "medium" or Hard....

6" or 8" or ??? width???

They also have a "shark" for deck/hull that doesn't even list course-ness.

Any thoughts?

Cheers!

I use the yellow scrub head which I believe is 'medium', but I only use it on the non-skid. For the smooth portions of the cabin or hull sides, I use a big car wash sponge.

I use the white shurhold brush for the non skid surfaces. I start by wetting the non skid floor with water/clorox and head for the front.

What I really like is the shurhold woolly looking swivel thing. It makes the job
SOOOO easy. Fill up a bucket with water and soap of your choice, starting at the bow and heading back.

What makes that woolly swivel thing so convenient is that it "contours" itself to the surface. Runs along the sides, top side, windows etc., perfectly. Then, when your done with all the smooth surfaces, I take the woolly off the pad and use it as a mit to clean the rails, rod holders, horns, etc.,

By the time I'm done with the front, the non skid is ready for scrubbing and rinsing.

I use the Shurhold system too. I have two fixed length 60" handles, and two 6" brushes, one soft for the smooth areas, and one medium for the non-skid. The stiff brush is WAY too stiff, even for the agressive non-skid on my boat.

And I have two handles because I feel there's no need for one guy to do all the cleaning while the others stand around and watch. Plus we get it done much quicker with two guys. 8)

Anyway, I usually clean the deck and all the non-skid myself with the medium brush, and let someone else do the front, the motor, and the sides of the hull with the soft brush (easy job). Works great.

Thanks folks!

Ok, I got the yellow one this afternoon (medium) - and will one day get a soft one for the smooth areas.

In the mean time, i'll use the regular rag for those smooth areas. Oh - and thats absolutely true about getting a second poll - I end up doing everything1!!!

Cheers mates..
