Well it's been a long year so far; it's May 13 and I haven't even de-winterized my boat.

After the joy of getting a second grandchild, news that my mom was hospitalized brought us back down. Well, she never recovered and passed away. I have been back and forth home to Smithfield, VA so many times in the last month I am sick of I95. We buried her in a beautiful new Veteran's Cemetary in Suffolk. My Pop is doing OK but they were married for over 60 years so it is tough.

He said he's ready to go fishing, so I need to get the boat ready. Until she got older, Mom used to love to go out on Dad's boats when he had them and later mine. She might have commented if a person bought something just to be a show-off but she would never say anything about a boat. She understood.

I also got a new tow vehicle. A Ford F350, Super Duty Crew Cab Lariat FX4, with the International Powerstroke Turbo Diesel. It was my son's. He didn't need it anymore since he sold his business. It will tow a small town.
Pictures coming.

Anyway, don't know when but I'll be splashed in hopefully two weeks or so.

John:

Sorry to hear about your Mom. Sounds like you've got a good plan to get you and your Dad out on the water again.......and with a new truck.

Welcome back John. I too am sorry to hear about your mom. I'm glad you and your dad have decided to spent some more time together and go fishing. You will find out it will help both of you. Things may never be perfect again but things will get better.

John,
Sorry to hear about your loss. She will always be in your heart. Hope you get your dad out soon. I fish the lower bay- live in Newport news and grew up in Phoebus.

John, My heart goes out to you and your family.

I lost my mom several years ago. She was an avid fisherwoman and she would usually outlast my dad when they fished the surf on the Outer Banks. She never seemed to get tired of fishing. 8)

Remember her... take your dad fishing... and cherish the memories.

Really sorry to hear about your Mom. We'll keep you and your family in our prayers.

BTW, Ford uses International Harvester engines as the Powerstroke. If you want a Cummins, you have to buy a Dodge.

Thanks everyone. Tomorrow is dad's 80th birthday, so we are having a get together in Hampton. Should be a good time.

Dave, I knew it was an International made in Lousiana If I recall; my fingers just typed Cummings for some reason.

Bob, I grew up in Newport News.

Ah, well. Back down the road.
