How many people here would cover their boat if Parker had custom covers made for your model?

Price aside, why wouldn't you cover your boat? (hassle, more maintenance, not physically practical... other)

What would be some features that, if not incorporated into a custom cover, would cause you NOT to buy it, even if your were interested in a cover?

I keep my boat on a lift. One of the reasons I bought a boat like the Parker, is for ease of cleaning and maintenance. No cushions, no vinyl, no carpeting, no nothing. Just hose her off and put her away.

My old boat had full snap canvas cover. While it did keep the sun off the "purty" interior and kept bird droppings off etc., It was a pain in the a$$ to put on and take off. Canvas would shrink over time. Snaps wouldn't line up or reach. Male rivets would pop out.

To me, snaps are a deal killer.

For me, the more crap I have to do before I can actually enjoy the toy makes me use it less.

How about you?

i wouldnt really ever consider a cover for my parker. for pretty much the same reasons you just stated. everything that needs to be protected is inside, shut the curtains and youre fine. theres the hassle of taking it off, putting it on, storing it when not in use, maintaining the material, etc. on top of that, whatever kind of cover it is, theres going to be some sort of attachment point thats bound to get broken, smashed, pulled out, whatever. and finally, im not that concerned with the "prettiness" of my boat that i need to keep it covered. bird droppings disappear when i have to wash all the dirt from peoples feet off the cockpit floor anyway.

on the flip side, if anyone would buy a cover for a parker pilothouse, what are some of the reasons you would consider one a necessity?

I keep my 23SE on a trailer and I'm considering a cover from www.ttopcovers.com. These covers are around $900 for my boat and they use webbing straps and adjustable clips. They go on quickly and are duable. I don't think they are build to handle a New England winter storm though.

I don't like the idea of snaps either. I put anywhere from 50 hours on my boat in a bad year to 120 in a good year. But there are times I don't get to my boat for several weeks in a row. I like the idea of keeping it clear of debris and from fading from the UV light.

I would have considered buying a cover from Parker if one was available. I contacted the folks at www.ttopcovers.com about making a cover for my 23SE. They didn't have a pattern and the local Parker dealer near them didn't have a boat on the lot set up like mine. So I had a local canvas shop make mine. It has had about 4 inches of wet snow on it and it didn't seem to bother it.

I had a canvas cover for my Dusky and loved it!

The downside? It was heavy and even for a small trailered boat, it was a bear to put on and take off.

Would I like a cover for my 2520? Yes! ... though I think a cover for this boat would way too heavy and would certainly take the fun out ownership.

Now a nice tight fitting canvas winter cover? That could be a possibility.

This is one of my pet peeves with Parker. They should offer sunbrella covers for leaning posts, consoles, and full boat covers to their customers as a option.
