I decided to keep my boat 'home' in my local boatyard this winter. So... today was the day to finish winterizing the motor and chipping away at the colony of barnicles on the motor bracket. :(

About the time I finished my part, the guys showed up to shrink wrap her.

My neighbor owns a yacht management business (which includes shrink wrap services), so I decided to keep my money closer to home this year and help a brother out.

I didn't have time to put up my wood frame before the guys arrived, but they assured me that they would make it good...

Since they guys are accustomed to wrapping boats twice my size, they were happy for the opportunity to wrap a 'small' boat. :)
So... I sat back with a barley pop and with my camera in hand, and recorded the job!

I was impressed...

Next year I'll have my frame up and ready for them, but even without the frame this year, they did a heck of a job!

Hi Kevin, I used to have all my boats shrink wrapped and have the door put in as you did. After wasting some money on the doors I realized you can save it and use it again the next year and more. Not sure as to whether or not how many people do this but it sure saves some bucks and gives you the opportunity to get in her on a warm winter day and get some small projects done. Just my cents!

What, no vents?

... I dunnoh, shrinkwrapping is going for $11-$12 per running foot up here. My $40 per season tarp/PVC frame system buys a lot of fishing gear for that price!

I still don't see enough vents ... if you didn't remove the cushions and open EVERY port or opening, you could have a serious mildew situation.

Nice job..

I just did mine today also. I did it myself. Came out pretty good for the first time. I got rain before I could finish. I just have to add the door and vents. This will be done tomm. I'll some pics when she's done.

They are hard to see because they're the same color as the wrap, but there are at least 6 of them up there. In addition, the whole area between the transom and the motor is open underneath.

All cushions were removed and all deck plates, windows, and hatches were opened. The garboard drain plug was removed too.

She'll be as dry as a bone come spring time.

Mine is being wrapped as we speak. When we get a nice day I'll just jump on a head boat an do some togging to keep my mind right

Capt-Kevin

What is the name of the yard your boat is at being shrinkwrapped and is that the same marina your boat is pictured at in the water in the pictures throughout the website?

Thanks
Catfish

The boat yard is Whitehall Yacht Yard and it is the same place where I wet slip the boat.
The shrink wrap was done by Williams Yacht Management of Annapolis.

Trust me... after my experience 2 years ago at my dealers lot, I obsess about such things. I even told them last year I wanted "extra vents".
It was better when I picked her up this past spring, but not exactly what I wanted or expected.

2 years ago she was sealed up so tight I had mold everywhere in the spring!
It took an entire day with 100% bleach in a spray bottle to chase all that stuff away. :(

This year I'm taking matters into my own hands and keeping her closer to home where I can keep an eye on her! 8)
