I am looking for a small, stainless steel grab rail to put on a 21' SE.

Here is one option:

I have two slightly larger versions on my 21 DV.

One is mounted on the angled front of the console on the starboard side (steering wheel is in same spot on port side) and is great for passengers to hold on to when underway, or when you need to use a handhold while moving from bow to stern and vice versa and the boat is rocking.

The other is mounted on the top of the transom on the port side to act as a grab rail while using the boarding ladder. I got the idea for this one from another member here who posted a pic.

What do you use inside the console to attach it to? What do you use in terms of bolts etc.

Good question..

As they say in the ad, the grab rail is threaded for a standard bolt pattern. I drilled a pilot hole in the console where I wanted to mount one of the bolts to see how thick the fiberglass was. Then brought the rail to the hardware store to find a bolt that could accommodate the thickness of the fiberglass, the biggest stainless washer I could find and a lock washer, and still have enough thread to come just shy of bottoming out the threaded portion of the rail.

As usual I probably bought one size bigger and smaller bolt, and some extra stainless washers just in case my measurements were slightly off.

Other than that I used some marine sealant for the bolt hole after drilling the correct size holes.

That's a GREAT price for those small rails!

Not teak mind you ;) , but still nice.
