Wow, Yellowfin put a Yam 4-stroke 350hp on their 3500-pound 'Bay' boat. Holy smokes that must fly!
Should make putting one on a 25' or large Parker a no brainer, right?

Besides being big, that is one 'butt ugly' side profile of any motor I've even seen. Doesn't look as menacing as the Merc Verado ... just more ... 'fugly', at least to my eyes.

If you know anyone who mounts one on a 25 Parker, I'd like a chance to drive it. 8)

Too bad Parker is so single-minded. yamadog must be paying off Parker.

I don't blame Parker for choosing a single power source. Cost-wise it makes the most business sense in today's world, whether we like it or not. That said, I personally don't care for some of Yamaha's business tactics 'they' put onto hull makers like Parker though. I think it would be 'too cool' if a hull maker could put 1 of 2 OB makes onto a hull, but the business deals with Yumster forbids it. You want their motors on your hull? Then you only buy THEIR motors.

As is, given the outboard debacles of the 90s and even into early 2000 years ... was there really any 'other' motor choice - day in - day out - than Yamaha? And I reluctantly state that as a former card-carrying OMC guy. But Soros bothched up OMC but good!

Thus if in Parker's shoes, I probably would have made the same decision. Parker is in business to sell boats ... not motors. Just my $0.02.

The Parker website says many of the 25s are available with a 350. I have not seen one yet though.

I talked with my dealer about the 350. They will not repower a 25 Parker with the 350, unless it was previously rigged at the factory for a 350. Apparently, they beef up the transom to handle the torque. That doesn't make sense, because I've seen 25s rigged with twin 200s and 225s before, and I didn't think they were built any differently than one rigged for a single 250.

Anyone got any better info on this tidbit I picked up?

A single engine bracket also doesnt have the surface area against the transom that a twin engine bracket does. Probably by disbursing the weight over a greater area of the transom, it can handle the wieght and torque better.. I wonder parkers thoughts on the 300zuke or 300/350 verado? Did any of you guys call to get parkers opinion on these repowers? (or will they just tell you to stick with Yamaha  )
