yamaha f225, no "pee" stream of water

need help, alarm buzzer sounded, had no pee stream of water, shut it down, pulled my lower unit as i was planning on changeing the impeller anyways, it was trashed, changed it out, still no stream, ran it for about one to two minutes, system blocked? tried to flush it with the hose conn. no luck, any ideas? thanks Kelly

Did you check the thermostat?
Also water exit port may be plugged with debris or insect nests.
Perhaps the water pump needs more than an impeller

Make sure the muffs are dual feed, and are on the lower unit tight, tight, tight.

I also remove the plastic screen for better flow as well as hooking up the flush port with a different hose.

well i was told the pee stream is independent from the thermostats also i dont use the ear muffs i have a tub that covers the water intake ports still no stream , i think the system is blocked, stuck a wire in the stream hole felt nothing,,,i changed all the impeller parts, plate, houseing, washers ect..

Did you check the poppit valve? Maybe it is stuck open

Poppit valve, could also be the corrsion problem in all the post above and below yours.

When you pulled your lower unit did you look up the exhaust? Did it look like this?

Good point.
If the impeller was trashed, the housing is probably damaged too.

When replacing the water pump, I always do it as a complete unit, along with the t-stats and poppit.

i did look for corrosian in the exhuast, it had the grey spots but very minor pits, maybe the beginning of worse but i dont think thats the problem, the poppit valve, is that the same as the water pressure relief valve?,,ive changed the t. stats also,,,will do the poppit also ,,thanks,Kelly

yes it is high pressure relief valve and can stick open.
Check the SIM Yamaha site for a replacement tutorial

problem solved,,,bought a tank deep enough to cover the cavitation plate as one member said, i thought just covering the water intake would be good enough but maybe not, and changed t. stats, nice healthy stream at idle,,
