I am in the process of removing the bow rail from a 23DVCC and have removed all the bolts except the ones on the second supports. They are nearly inaccessible. I could cut the the rail with a sawzall and let the bolts drop and the rail would be shot but I would rather find a way to get them off. The only solution I can think of is to use an air ratchet tied to a pole and slide it up the gunwhale to try to reach it. Any ideas?

A certain CP member has some pretty talented kids for tight spaces like that. He might loan you one.

Got a pic? I have come up with some strange tools in past for doing this kind of stuff. I like the pole idea.

Are you going to need to use the bolts again with whatever you are going to put back, or just fill the holes?

I am going to fill the hole. Bow rails are in the way when jigging, setting and retrieving anchors, and getting in and out at the dock. I will shoot a couple pics tomorrow in the light and show where the bolts and supports are. It is about 4' from either direction.

I had a similiar issue when removing the rail from my 21DV. Although it was a number of years ago, I can clearly remember having to take off the sweatshirt and jacket I was wearing just to give me that extra little bit of reach. I also found a longer handled socket wrench that was a big help - however it still took forever as you could only get about a quarter turn at a time. Good luck, and be patient, its worth it if you can find someone who would like to buy the rail from you.
