Found a very nice, well made cutting board they make that seats into flush mount stainless male /female holders. Its 40" long and has a ruler built in along with a knife holder and sharpener.
Total cost from deep blue marine: $266
*Warning* may require extra amount of ponder beer for installation!
So, I spent about a week trying to figure out if I should drill into the gunnel first or mount to the cutting board first. There was no template.
So after many ponder beers later, I decided to just call DBM and some guy mumbled something about double-sided tape, blah, blah. Not sure what he was talking about to be honest. I did manage to get out of him that most people attach the male portion to the board first and then trace the hole on the gunnels.
So the male portion got attached to the cutting board and then I was able to trace and measure the holes onto the gunnels by setting the board onto the gunnel. Next I taped of the area and drilled my holes using a 1- 3/8" hole saw. BTW, the gunnels are about 15/16" thick.
After the holes were drilled, I took some Smiths penetrating epoxy and painted the inside of the hole several times till it wasnt soaking in anymore. I let it set for a day.
The last step was the most difficult. Mounting the flush mounted female portion into the hole. You see, there are a set of *****-nipples on the male portion that lock into a matching set of holes in the flush mount female. I had a very tough time making sure they were lined up. If not perfectly lined up, then the *****-nipples don't engage, which is what holds the table secure.
With the help of my wife and alot of luck I was able to line things up and screw down the flush mount holders. I'm sure there is a better way. I just couldnt figure it out.
I'm not sure I like the fact that a rubber gasket is between the stainless holder and the fiberglass. I'm hoping there will not be any water intrusion over time. I sealed everything with "Life-Seal".
I wanted to install the table next to my BBQ so it would serve a dual purpose of prep tray and fish cleaning table but with the table being 40 long, space was limited. I ended up mounting it on the opposite side of where the BBQ goes.
