There are two fuel pumps. Low pressure ( mechanical) and high pressure. I would look at the high presure pump inside the vst tank. Clean the tank well and measure the fuel presure at the fuel rail. Also, are the injectors seated well?

I take my 17 out twenty five miles out all the time. She’s a little tank and very easy to trailer. Add some trim tabs and you can get her to really perform as she was designed.I always suspected a two stroke 70 would be a good engine for her.
