I am getting down to the wire on a boat purchase; however, one boat I am considering is linerless (Privateer) and the other boat I am considering has a liner (Parker). Both boats have a deck, but the Parker has an interior wall separating the open deck space from the side of the hull. Between...
Thanks for the replies. Yes, they were referring to keel block and stand storage, but that got me thinking about boat-on-trailer storage. I found an Ohio trailer manufacturer that advertises their trailers as constructed for support of most of the weight by keel (or near-keel) support bunks...
I was reading on the Grady site that in storing a boat on land, 80% of the weight of the boat should be supported at the keel. Many boats are stored on trailers, but bunks located some distance from the keel appear to support most of the weight...........correct? What manufacturers produce...
rjjm, do you leave your boat in the water for extended period of time? I have asked about his barrier coat issue before, but it alway seems to evolve to anti-fouling coatings. My concern is for sealing the gelcoat/fiberglass against water intrusion. Thanks guys.
So the barrier coat is just a surface preparation; it is not a barrier to anything such as water intrusion (thinking blisters here)? The bottom paint, is this anti-fouling paint or something else?
I'm just learning here, thank you.
Just what is this barrier coat? I assume it is a paint on, and it protects against water intrusion???? Does it work, does it last, or is it snake oil??
Bunk trailers to be more specific..........where should bunks be placed and how many. One manufacturer recommends keel bunks to hold most of the weight and the more common bunks further out the hull just to balance the boat, holding much less of the boat weight? How about rollers to hold the...
i once read somewhere that the NADA guides were produced by the deaers association for dealers as a used, wholesale, or trade-in value guide and not for use as a selling price guide; hence, the difference between what the dealer pays for the used vehicle and for what he sells the same vehicle...
Is there really a difference between a hull with a 5 year warranty (Parker) and a hull with a lifetime warranty (Steiger)? Leaning toward purchase of a Parker but cannot take my mind off the Steiger warranty.
I have been comparing the Parker 2120 Pilot house with the Steiger Craft 21 Deep Vee Miami/Chesapeake. There is 1,450 pounds difference in stated weight. Any idea where the extra weight is? Tough choice between the two otherwise. Thanks.
