I was reading on the Grady site that in storing a boat on land, 80% of the weight of the boat should be supported at the keel. Many boats are stored on trailers, but bunks located some distance from the keel appear to support most of the weight...........correct? What manufacturers produce trailers that support most of the boat weight on the keel?

Without any further details or context provided, I'd guess that they mean to block the boat under the keel centerline and use Brownell stands, or similar, to support/level the hull.

From what I've read, no hull mfg'r makes recommendations as to specifically how to setup a trailer for use on their hull, but FF stated it right - make sure that whatever trailer design you're using is supporting from or to a stringer, bulkhead, or other integral/structural feature of the hull design.

Adding keel bunks can help aid in load alignment so that those bunks always get centered on a stringer.

The only manufacturer I've ever seen state that about trailers for their boats is Boston Whaler...and that may just be the older ones.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, they were referring to keel block and stand storage, but that got me thinking about boat-on-trailer storage. I found an Ohio trailer manufacturer that advertises their trailers as constructed for support of most of the weight by keel (or near-keel) support bunks plus other bunks for stability.
