    Post-Irene

Was off on vacation last week, staying around Marblehead and fishing with the kids. We were concerned that Irene would blow the fish offshore for a while, or at least scatter the macks. Turned out, neither happened! Attached is a pic of a nice 41 we caught the Monday after Irene blew through...

    Cuttail Tournament

Another cool shot of us prepping to fish with the surf on Pig Rocks in the background.

    Cuttail Tournament

a couple of buddies and I participated in a local, fun fishing tournament last weekend. it started 4:00 PM Friday and ended 2:00PM Saturday. We fished for stripers, but also attracted blues. The key was getting mackerel for live bait. One of our crew is an oral surgeon who makes frozen chum...

    500 hp on a 25' DV

Hey Dale, you piqued my curiosity. Why $800 in oil cost for a season? That's about 20 gallons of oil for an average season of 100 hours of usage. You think these guys burn a gallon of oil every five hours? That would be about 50 gallons of fuel at running speed over the same time, for a 50/1...

    Another idea

    Parker-related only is my vote.

    July 4th stars and stipers!

Got this big girl mid-day on the 4th live lining with macks off Marblehead. Sent her back to have more striper babies and then kept a 30 incher later for the table. by the way, if you are going to release a fish, please hold it this way, and not hanging vertically by the lip. I see lots of...

From CC to PH any regrets ?

A buddy of mine had a 21 foot Grady CC before he upgraded to a 24 Regulator and that was the biggest damn 21 I've ever been on. Great boat with tons of beam.

From CC to PH any regrets ?

Dale, Sounds like a 21 MVCC to me! Or DVCC if yo can find one in good shape. I am with you on the wood thing. Have had my share of great looking trim. Now I want every surface to benefit from Simple Green, Barkeepers Friend, or bleach!

2300 center console am/fm radio install

As said, I have my speakers mounted on either side of the console, mounted low. Allows sound to carry throughout the the boat.

2300 center console am/fm radio install

Damn iPad switched spell check to Spanish. I meant to say is it an older console like I have or a newer one with flush mount. Additionally, I think you give up a ton of useful storage if you mount it in the t-top box like you described. Think twice about the flush mount. I prefer my...

2300 center console am/fm radio install

I think the answer depends on which console you have. Is it one of The newer models with a flash mount set up, or an ondee one Nike mine with a sliding door accessing space for electronics? If the older version, I just mounted the radio inside the electronics box and it is pretty well protected...

Converting from Boat Leveler to Lenco

I searched and didn't find what I was looking for, so here goes. I have long had a visceral hatred of hydraulic oil on boats. This probably comes from my sailing days with hydraulic backstays, boomvangs, and even a transmission that used to blow o-rings all the time. anything hydraulic...

Rod storage, live well, and hole filling on 23se

i had two additional thoughts on this. First, my old boat, an Eastern 22 CC without a T-top had the rod holders on the side of the console and it was never a problem at all, including my fly rods with large diameter reels. Second, the T-top on the 23 has supports that come to the outside of...

Rod storage, live well, and hole filling on 23se

Depending on what kind of fishing you like to do, having a live well can be an incredibly handy addition to your boat. Additionally, bucket seats are next to useless on a boat this size, in my opinion. I greatly prefer a leaning post. To save room, be sure to get a design that incorporates...

    T-Top question

One thing to consider is weight. Hard tops put a lot of it exactly where you might not want it. I have the soft top with an electronic box. No doubt, the hard top is a cleaner look. I have spent a lot of effort trying to put as much weight as low and centered as I can.

    BFT North Carolina

Just like last year. Frankly, this posses me off. Not that ourmpals inNC get to fish for BFT, but that the Feds can't space out the quotas over the season so northern fisherman get a shot.

    BFT North Carolina

So, i have three comments: 1. Great looking fish! Wish I could be down there. 2. I hope this means that the incredibly restrictive BFT regulations we had last summer are not going to repeat themselves 3. I fear, however, that the exact issue will occur as last year, specifically that the...
