I am looking for ideas for next season. I want to add an aftermarket baitwell to my 2001 1801. If anyone has a photo or a suggestion of something they've done it would be appreciated. If anyone knows the name of the manufacturer of the stock baitwells I'd be interested in that information as well. Thanks in advance for any responses.

Too bad you're not closer. But, if you get near Boston, I have 2 Kodiak baitwells, a 22 and a 32-gallon. Either one for sale - brand new - > 50% off retail. Which translates to $100 firm, for your choice, the 32-gallon one goes for $240 in the stores, $220 on-line, but add $$ to ship.

From http://www.kodiakmarine.com/index.html

Space-saving oblong tanks available in 4 sizes come ready to fish. Connect to your bait pump and you're off for the fishing grounds. The low profile PF-17 and PF-27 fit under most leaning posts, model PF-22 and PF-32 are tall enough to drain over most outboard wells or mount on your swim step.

Models PF-27 and PF-32 come with an additional drain at half water level, allowing the water to be run half full, reducing weight.

Specifications
Part Number: PF-32
Capacity: 32 Gallons
Length: 26 Inches
Width: 17.75 Inches
Height: 26.25 Inches
Weight: 75 Pounds

Just what I'm looking for. I like the idea of fitting one under my leaning post. If gas wasn't selling for the price of gold I'd actually consider the trip!

This is what I have on mine, a 45 gallon Offshore tank. The tank is great, but I am not thrilled with the built in leaning post, it just does not provide enough support during long runs. I will likely have a custom leaning post built over it

Thanks for the information. When the weather clears here in the north east I'll get a chance to begin my preps for next season. I can't quite make out the name of the manufacturer of the live well on Matrix's boat. If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks!

What about mounting a 32 gallon on the swimstep...would the weight throw the boat off? That's about what, 260 lbs? That might make things easier if it was secured right. Anyone use that setup?

I have an 18. I found a used Aqua World UT29 cheap, it just fits under my leaning post. Installed a Rule pump on the transom. It is on a bracket so it can be taken off when not in use. I run the intake hose over the transom along the floor and up. The drain hose goes the same way but it dumps to the scuppers. Installed a 12 volt plug in the battery box wall and wired the switch to the pannel on the console. When I come in I just disconnect everything wash it of and stuff it into the tank. Other than the hoses on the floor it is perfect. Would have loved to plumb it better but it would have meant a lot more hole in the floor hull etc... This way it was like installing a transducer. You can find everything you need on Live Bait Larry.com

Here's the one I just finished. Less than $60 complete.

I know some guys might think this looks tacky but, It fits just under gunwale height so unless you are in the boat, you can't see it. Also, it does not take up any boat real estate when not in use. IMHO, those bait wells stuck in the middle of the fishing area are a pain.
