Greetings-

The Stainless Steel Sliding Bar Hatch Closure for center console access on my 1801 is loose and when trailering the boat will open by itself so door swings; if I dont wrap a small bit of paper towel around the bar and use this extra little bit to keep the slide positively engaged.

What I really want to do is replace existing hardware with a locking latch so I can secure items in the console. It would be a big bonus if I did not have to drill additional holes...however either way I am needing to replace this latch.

Anyone ever done this or have any suggestions for me?

I sure appreciate the insight.

Sincerely

Nick

Nick,

If you locked the center console side door, couldn't somebody just enter through the seat access in front of the console?

The seat in front of the console with the lid that you attach the seat cushion on my 1801 is a cooler like inside design and is totally enclosed. There is a plug in the bottom of this front compartment that has a drain hose run through the center console stow area and drains out the side of the console onto the deck. I wish I could take a picture of it, but I dont think anyone could access the center console stow area without cutting the fiberglass linner.

I know that this lock would only serve to keep the "honest people honest", but it would be very convienent to leave things in there of medium value. IE: West Marine clamp on $99 rod holders ect...

Also-the tackle box hatch (as can be seen on the posted picture of Dan's boat) has a plastic turn style latch. I would love to buy a locking latch that replaces the plastic latch....

ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS??? :p

i had the same prob. with a 2000 1801 door was always swinging open, bad latch choice from factory. i added a latch with a hasp and a lock so i could lock it if i cared to, left the old one on. got tired of people blowing horns to tell me door was open. tinmantoo bel air md. 23wa
