I just bought a 2009 2520 XLD. I ordered some 12" X 18" tabs as a dealer option. The boat just arrived with some 12" X 16" (width X length) tabs from the factory. I told the dealer to hold off on the option and will try out the boat with the factory tabs. Is this something new? All I've seen are 12" X 12"....but I'm certainly no expert yet. Also would like to know whether or not 18" wide tabs would interfere with twin 150's.
Thanks

I have a 2520 and went with the widest set of tabs I could fit on the boat: 24" X 9" Bennetts. In my experience, the more surface area the better when it comes to trim tabs. Since I have a single 225, I'm afraid I can't be much help regarding your question about your twin 150s contacting the inside edges of the tabs.

Are your tabs "recessed"? Check this out.

Thanks for your responses and info, guys. My tabs are not recessed. They're just 4" longer than the previous years. I understand that Parker did some modification to the new 2520 hulls. I'll know more about any particulars after I begin my sojourn with my new Parker. My wife is a fishing maniac like me, and we are so excited about this boat that we're about to bust....We just delivered our previous boat, a 236 Sailfish to the dealer last Sat. We're trading it in. We looked at each other upon our arrival back to our place in Suwannee and realized that, for the first time in about 30 yrs. we are boatless.....even if only for a week. We have planned this purchase for over a year, and it's our last boat....so bear with me if I seem a bit weird from time to time.. :D I'll let you know how the tabs perform.

I have 12x12 tabs ona 2520 and am not happy with the way the boat rides. In another thread I discovered that this was a common problem with the 2520 being a little heavy on the stern.
It was suggested that I try plates mounted on the engines themselves. Much cheaper than replacing the tabs with bigger ones and those who did it are happy with the results.
I think Parker has addressed the problem with the larger surface tabs.
I will be curious to know how it works for you as far as even planning, getting on a plane quickly, staying on a plane at lower rpm and speed and the motors not grabbing air on turns.

Well, we took our first trip out on Merlin Saturday. There is a lot of difference btwn this boat and the Sailfish 236 CC that we owned previously. It's very tail-heavy with the 2X150s. I'm only four hrs into break-in so couldn't really run it for any significant length of time at a constant speed. The motors bring it up on plane very briskly. I went offshore about 10 miles in 2 to 4s. Following seas were very nice with the motors trimmed up slightly on the way out. Heading back in with head seas we got some water on the windshield as the wind was up. Sure is nice to have windshield wipers. I trimmed the motors full down and the bow went down well. I used about 3/4 tabs and the bow stayed down very well. I had to run at about 15 knts. I LOVE THIS BOAT!! It's sort of like driving a one-ton truck after being used to a sports car. Maneuvering at the dock is real nice using the motors to turn it around in its' own length. We're so happy we found Parker.
Good fishing! :)

If you go to the Lenco website, they offer 2 'retrofit upgrades' for the std 12" x 12" tabs. One is a tab with the 12" width and 16" chord (length) . It sticks out 16" in back of the transom. The other upgrade is a 14" x 18" plate. Again, the width is 14" and the chord is 18". These
are advertised as direct replacements for the 12 x 12s and the actuator does NOT have to be relocated. I understand that most people here like the wider width and the shorter chord, such as 9" x 24". They are probably more efficient. But you also have to relocate the actuator to
remain centered on the plate. On Lenco's upgrade plates, I am also curious if you have to remove the part of the hinge that is screwed to the transom. I'm wondering if you can just tap out the piano hinge pin, fit the 12" x 16" plate onto the existing hinge, and slide the hinge pin back in. I'm thinking of upgrading to the 12" x 16" plates, but would like to hear more about them from you guys.
