I have a new to me 2011 21SE that has the 4 stock rod holders. I am looking to mount more along the back and sides. I fish anchored for drum and cobia and need more across the back. ( I need 2 that are right at the transom that I can fish straight down) I also drift eels and I will need more along both sides from bow to stern for that. Any sugestions for mounting a couple more across the back. Would zero degree flush mount holders be best along the sides? How close together can they be mounted along the sides and not weaken anything? Any help would be great.

I have some 1/2" diameter SS driftmaster holders that have a flush mount stainless base that works great for drifting. They are not substantial enough to hold the larger livebait rods I use for cobia, but they do hold my heavy spinning tackle for drum. If you are thinking of adding more of the flush mount holders like are on the boat it should not be a problem but the angle you turn them could be is you are going to put them perpendicular to the gunwall. I am guessing the bottom may stick out beyond the inside edge.

Nice job on that link, but remember your gunwall is not as wide on the 21SE as that boat. Measure multiple times to be sure it is a good fit.

I installed some FWD gunwale rod holders recently. Unfortunately the old ones with the Parker stamp were unavailable so I just used what Parker currently installs. I made my own 30 degree jig by drilling a 90 degree hole that was the same diameter as the drill bit in my 2" hole saw, ( a long holesaw is required to get through the wash board, I used one made by Rigid) into a piece of 2 X 4 about 6" long ( I added centering marks to give me the "rack of the eye" when placing the drill areas) I then cut the wood into a 30 degree "wedge", drilled the holes through the washboards. I turned the drill bit around in the holesaw and followed the pre-drilled holes. I epoxyed the holes (screw holes too) and added 5200 to the flanges prior to installation. I got these ideas off of CP, imagine that!

Thanks for the help, hate the thought of drilling multiple holes in my boat. I will let you all know how it turns out.
