Hello all.
I've recently upgraded to a '99 2110 with a Yamaha 175 SW Series II. As I spend a significant amount of water time trolling, and since I can't comfortably control the low end speed of the big main engine, I decided to install a kicker. I've always had one in the past and love the quiet, economical option it provides, in addition to the emergency power it provides should the main fail.
After researching my options, I've settled on a new Yamaha, bracket mounted 25" 9.9 High Thrust engine. I'm not interested in a tiller, and would like to control steering and throttle from the cockpit. I've already removed the swim ladder in preparations for its install. The problem that I'm having is that I can't seem to find anybody to sell me the engine and do the install. I've visited several marinas here in NJ, and called several others, but after showing initial interest, the phone calls stop. One guy told me today that he can not find the tie bar to tie the engines together for steering. Could this be the problem with all of them?
I really didn't think that I was looking to do anything special here, but my sense now is that it's not a common request, or its not a desirable job.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
I will really appreciate any and all advice.
Thank you.
