Battery question for our electrical experts out there. It appears that both of my batteries are going bad as they are in year 3.5 or so I guess it's somewhat to be expected. Anyway, I need to replace them but the reason for the extra effort here is 2 fold. First, like most of us I like to get the best I can when replacing anything so I'm asking. The main reason though is that I'm planning on adding an inverter next season to go along with my current shore power and marine AC instal. When I do this I want to wire a second battery in parallel with my house battery so I need some advise to make sure whatever battery I get this year will play nicely with that concept. Look forward to your suggestions.

:D I like Interstate batteries but the marine batteries at CostCo only had a 6 month warranty but Walmart has a 2 year warranty so I purchased their Marine battery and afterwards found out they also make the sealed Blue top batteries. I believe the Walmart battery cost a little over $100.

I upgraded the battery bank this year. Thought bought 2 -Gp27's in parallel.

1-Gp27 Start
1-Gp 4D House......It has more reserve than 2-Gp27's

Interesting Warthog. I wonder if there is any chance of getting that 4D in my port side jump seat compartment. I'll look up the specs and measure. There is that same/similar shelf in the bilge of the 2120 that I have thougt about adding another battery to (pretty sure that 4D would fit)and it would move the weight to center and forward a tad. On the other hand, fitting it into the port jump will save me from redoing wiring and I will add weight on the port side which is needed somewhat to counter the 50/60 lbs I'm currently adding to the helm with the AC etc.. I do like the idea of one big house battery though. Thanks for the input.

That 4d certainly has the reserve power, but if you don't have room, consider the largest AGM's that will fit.
I stuffed a pair of these in my boat. They were the biggest batteries that space would allow.

Oh... and no wing nuts on these batteries. They come with bronze bolts.

Thanks Kevin, I've definately been looking at the AGM's. They aren't cheap for sure.

While they have a whole list of things to like about them, cheap is definitely not one of them. :)
