just two way taped it...... Now you can have a useful top surface....

Thanks...... I have been talking about adding something like that for years.....
made a template and Deep Blue Marine in Tarpon springs Florida got it done for me
 
looks super. Very functional: as warthog mentioned, I would cut some "nonskid drawer liner" in "tan" color to put up there: that way your cell phone, or any other flat surface will stay put while underway. Good job: clean install there
 
I did something like that in teak several years ago.
Now my log book, phone, and fishing charts don't end up on the floor. 8)

Here's my take on the helm dash addition. I moved the oh-**** handle to the overhead and used the existing holes below the port side windshield for some stainless lag bolts. The port side end piece was attached just forward of the sliding window using 4200.
