2120 Kicker Placement

I have a just arrived 2008 2120 SC with a 150 hp Yam 4S and will be rigging a Yam 8 hp 4S HT kicker. I will be installing a 2nd helm to the bulkhead this winter. Aside from this, all else is stock with my transducer already located on the starboard side. Do you recommend installing the kicker on starboard or port side for balance? I have a fixed mount bracket and wanted your feedback before the holes are drilled.

These boats tend to have a slight starboard list so I think that a port side mount would be ideal. That said, the swim ladder is on that side so...? Also, rigging would be easier in the starboard side. Good luck.

I don't see the reason to install a Kicker when your mast motor is only 150Hp. What are you trying to do?

Thanks for the tip. The kicker will serve as go home insurance and also emergency to keep away from the beaches since we often fish close to shore here in N CA. Hope it never comes down to that.

agree put kicker on port. I just welded up a bracket for the kicker and install a new engine with a 15HO kicker to go with. I also live in Northern California.

So...... The $64,000 question then....... If main propulsion fails....Do you have time to deploy and start aux. before ending up on the rocks?

Money spent to clean your fuel tanks, filters, R&R fuel hoses, Remove anti siphon ball and spring and have the motor checked and tuned would go a long way for reliability.

Nice job. Looks great. I assume that you ran a separate fuel line the the extra fuel pick up on the tank? Good luck with your new rig.
