I have a 2120 with a pulpit. The anchor I have decided on is the Lewmar Delta. They come in 2 relevant sizes, 14 and 22 pounds.

This boat is used out in the Montauk / Block Island / Fishers Island area, and will be occasionally anchored overnight during the season. I generally use 1 size up from recommended, which in this case would result in using the 22lb one, not stainless, galvanized. Rode will be 25' of 1/4" G4 HT chain spliced to 275' of 1/2" 8 plait. Lewmar windlass to be installed this year.

I'm looking for opinions from those with actual experience with a 2120 (or perhaps a 2320) and these anchors. So here are my questions:

Does anyone here use a 22lb Lewmar Delta on their 2120? How about a 14 lb one? Opinions on these sizes?

Having never used the pulpit roller on this boat, can a 22lb Delta fit? Is it too large?

Thanks,
Mike

2120 with a 14 lb lewmar plow anchor. no problems anchoring in the local inlets on the south shore of long island.

I have a 2003 2120
I use a Claw or Bruce 22lb with 16 ft of 1/4 inch SS chain and New England Rope 5/8 three strand
I have a bow pulpit and roller and have no problems I use 5/8 for comfort thicker diameter in hand much better

If I was to do over I would only change one thing to the recommended length of boat to chain to 21 ft
However I have no issues with the set up I have

I am partial to a claw anchor although
I dive and I have seen a few different anchor's set in different bottom types
I must say a Claw or Bruce anchor IMO is the best
With that said the chain is just as important to properly lay the rode down and abrasions resistance
The reason I went with SS chain is that since we dont have a windless that drops the chain straight
down the locker hole I didn't want rust on the pulpit I had on other boats

The very first time I anchored out for the night, I had a 14# Delta Fast-Set on my boat.
During the night, the wind got up and I didn't sleep at all worrying if that anchor was going to hold as the wind swung us.
I was in a small bay and the shoreline all around me was rip-rap. Sky was overcast, so there was zero natural light.
Not fun.

After that experience, I switched to a much larger Hydrobubble Captains Choice (sized for a 35' boat).
Rode consists of 25' of chain and 300' of 7/16" braided line.
I think I'm set now.

If your windlass can handle it, go with the larger anchor.
I hand retrieve my anchor, so windlass capacity is not an issue.

Spent many nites anchored up with my #22 Delta Quickset. Lots of those nites had a 18' walkaround rafted to me and never dragged. I have a Horizon 600 windlass and 5/8" rode (no chain).

I have a 2120 07. I have the Lewmar pro fish 700 with 14 lb delta an 20' of 1/4' chain and 300' of 8 plait. I fish in all kinds of weather. Never had a problem but if you that worried go for the larger delta if the windlass can handle it.

Just as follow-up, I purchased the 22# Lewmar Delta Plow, and mounted it on the bow. Tried it out yesterday in current, stuck to the ground and held without hesitation on short rode (lunchtime rode). Large, yes, but honestly the 14# looked a little skimpy up there, and didn't give me that "comfort" feeling. Less dread=good.

Plan now is to purchase a windlass. Lewmar V700 is on the short list. Don't need freefall as fishing is not on the list.
Anyone else use the V700? And what's the "OEM standard" windlass Parker installs when they deliver the boat?

Thanks,
Mike

my friend has a2120xl he has a pro 700 on his from the factory I have a 2320sl with dealer installed pro 700 I use a Fortress anchor which holds real good on Lake Erie. Dealer installed was $500 cheaper. I have a friend that has a v700 on his 27' Well Craft Costal w/Delta anchor also holds good in 3'-5' waves
