I dont like the splashwell on my 2120. It is in the way and makes it hard to rinse out the back of the boat. Is it safe to remove it?
Thanks

Many of our members have.
Hopefully a few of them will weigh in and give their impressions.

That was the first think I got rid of from the boat when I took delivery of it. At the boat show they had a cooler in it's place. I put a 162 qt Igloo in it place. The show had a 150 qt cooler.

I wanted to keep my splash well in (mostly for the small kids we haul sometimes), but could not wash the aft deck easily. I added hinged scuppers to each side of the splash well on the bottom. They work much better than the small Parker slot on each side for washing. I washed the deck after this photo & the size of the scupper I installed works fine.

Now that I look back at the project, I wish I had removed all the screws in the deck and only left the screws holding the the starboard & port ends. Might even have slotted the side holes to raise the splash well for washing. Might have slotted the ends too so that the splash well might be easily lifted out without fooling with any screws. Guess I could still do that one day................................Pete

I removed mine right after I got the boat last year and have had no problems. It was the one thing I didn't like about the boat.

Ditto here, splash guard was first thing to go. First thing I found that it took forever to drain if when water got past it. Also made deck washdown difficult for the same reason.

I also have a Pacific Edge bait tank in the middle of the deck so the guard took up too much space.

Have not regretted the removal at all.

I ran a 2004 2120SC for three years with no splashwell (nobody offered us one) and took water over the stern maybe twice. Never felt the need to get one - other than wanting to buy everything that's out there! Have seen 2120s with the splashwell and wonder about the lost cockpit space. On the other hand, saw a 2120 yesterday with rear controls. He bought the housing from Parker and installed his own hardware for around $2k. Very nice.

Well I removed the splashwell. I had to put it back on. I kept taking a lot of water over the back when big boats would come by while I was fishing in SD bay. My feet kept getting soaked. I did cut bigger openings to let the water flow out and put plastic pieces over the new openings to keep the water from comming in. Seem to work very well washing washing down the back.

It annoyed the heck out of me in the begining, but I left it on because I fish the "White Water" in the fall and be known to take a few over the stern. Now I guess I just got used to it,but the drainage stinks and makes washdown a PITA :D
