If anyone is running a 2310 parker walkaround with an f225 yamaha i'd like some thoughts on the prop your useing.I'm looking to buy a spare and would like some ideas before i start looking for one.It has a three blade and i'll probably stay with that ,maybe a merc prop so i won't have to worry about spinning a hub.

I'm currently going through the same thing with my 2310 225h Johnson. I started out with 14.5 x 19 three blade (5000rpm- 30MPH max.). And have tried a 14.5 x 18 four blade (Better hole shot 4750rpm- 28MPH max.) Next up will be a 14.5 x 16 four blade. I'm trying to get up to 5500rpm and 30+ (maybe). I did not get the expected results with the 18, rpm's and top speed should have been greater.?
Has anyone tried out the pirrana carbon fiber replaceable blade props?

Try 15X17 Yam or a 15X19 Yam.

The 25 mod V comes with a 15X17.... so you might be able to go 15 X19 with the slightly narrower beam.

Keep as much diameter as you can.

IMHO that's still LUGGING your motor! I run the same motor and she's a 6K max RPM motor. You should be up to at least 5800 in the Spring on a clean running bottom, in cool air, no more than 1/2 fuel, no more than 2 guys, and all of the gear typically carried.

I agree, that rig has 15x17 written all over it.

Carbon fiber will FLEX more than a big hull can stand, specially with 225 ponies behind it. They are fine for replacement props only, or maybe for really fast light skiffs, but not for heavy boats.

Dale,
On the 15 x 17, three blade or two? Same prop for two stroke or four?

3-blade 15x17 ... might even have one you could borrow, as I have 3 OMC 225hp props. 2-blade props are only used on sailboats or small hp OBs, like < 10hp. I had a 'new', tried once (didn't work on my heavy 25 rig) Stiletto 15x17 high rake & cup premium 3-blade SS prop, $320 from Overton's ... you cudda had for < $200 ... a few weeks ago ;) .

I have a 1999 2310 with a 2009 F250. I use the same black steel prop that came with the boat on my old 2 stroke Yam 225. I think it is a 15X19. It is the same prop used on the Parker tests of this setup. I believe it is also used on the Yamaha "archived" performance bulletin for the 2310 with 225 2 stroke.

This works fine for me. With hardtop, bottom paint, half load of fuel I can run as high as 39mph on smooth water and get at least 5800 rpm.

The F250 is a big improvement on the 2stroke 225.

Erick at Parker sent me a copy of their test on this setup and my experience is pretty close.

That makes sense, as it's been my experience that a 225hp that wears a 15x17 wears a 15x19 on the 250hp version ...

Bob,
I wish I was getting the same results, Maybe I'm looking in the wrong direction on this..? Maybe it is not the prop.

I can't wait for the 2 stroke to die( not very likely ) so I can convince my wife to upgrade. I have owned this outboard for one season and I just don't trust it.
