hampton roads v.a
just got 25 cc with bracket comm. hull to set up they way i want it. not sure about the power yet. 250 hp max on bracket was thinking about a suzuki 300 h.p not sure how the 250 will push it. 16 degree hull. looking for 25 to 27 knot cruise not so much top end. any numbers would be helpful. thanks.

250 will push that thing low to mid 40s pretty easily. I wouldnt imagine the 300 would make that much of a difference. Essentially with the mod v you only get so much hull out of the water so they in essence have a max hull speed for a given horsepower and minimal increases dont seem to make much difference. Thats why people like them because you can get good efficient performance out of less horsepower. But a 300 would be cool.

FWIW the gearing is way different on the 300hp versus the 250hp Suzuki and I feel the 250hp is giving better performance, as in miles per gallon.

To be totally practical, how often can one run at the higher RPMs? During offshore toona season, the only way my hull would see high 30s ... would be on the freakin' highway!

If you want to be going 30kts and that is a DV you will probably need the Zuke or even a BIG Yammie 350.

I'm cruising at 22kts with a 250 zuke on a 2510 DV. Wieght shouldn't be an issue since these boats are routinly rigged with twin V-6's

SORRY, just saw 16 degree hull. 250 should push it fine. the zuke 250 would be quicker and have more torque. Go to Eds and save a few bucks.

thks for all the help guys i have deceided to have the good people at armstrong make me a new bracket to hold the 300hp suzuki. with the custom tower & the boat loaded i want a 27 knt. cruise & with calm seas i can go even faster. p.s the 250 hp bracket is for sale its brand new asking 900.00 thats way less than half the price of a new one.

cost and yamaha doesnt make a 4 stroke 300. Parker only rigs yamaha for now. Same reason you can get a truck with a v8, v10, or diesel how much you want to spend how fast you want to go its only money

Yamaha lists a four stroke 300 on their web site. Boat should really only be rated for 250 then as thats all its rated for. Its only as strong as its weakest link.

or they dont want to spend the money to reengineer to figure out if the bracket can handle the bigger motor bc it runs well with a 250. although they did with the dv 25 now. but that requires more power to push anyways so it has more of an appeal than running twins to some

the transom is 3in. thick it would hold any motor anyone makes the problem is no one will bolt a 300 on a bracket that has 250 stamped on it

The bracket probably won'tallow the 300 V8 tilt up enough. It may be fine for the 300 v6 zuke.

900 bucks for the bracket....?

Where is it.
