I'm looking at 1998 2520dvsc with a new 351 gas inboard to buy. My question is why did Parker stop making inboard gas boats. The boat I'm looking at engine has been bored out and has a super charger low psi blower. The boat is in great shape with lots of extras and a well maintained trailer. Any information would be appreciated.

I'm not a fan of I/O's.......The dog box takes up a lot of deck space.....Lot's more stuff has to be disassambeled to do proper maintenance.

think greasing the gimble bearings.....which are usually neglected...... A lot of times I/O's are impossible to work on due to not being able to reach things.

Have 2520 1997 with 5.7 L Penta . Have Mechanic do the work. I am a little old for this stuff now. Taking care of anything is the game. I am sure the inboards are harder to work on but taking care of it is the name of the game. I think Parker got out I/Os in 2001 or so. Have heard they cut a deal with Yamaha and it cost more to build an I/O. The engine box is fine by me. Not having fish over outboards is nice. With engine in boat it is a different ride. But a Parker is a Parker. If I bought a new one it would be an outboard because there is no choice. But everything has it good points. Repowering an I/O is cost effective. But today outboards are great. Just a few thoughts.
